the day of secrets

here’s some scripture i read today during my devotion time…

“for it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in god’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. this will take place on the day when god will judge men’s secrets through jesus christ.” –romans 2:13 & 16

the day when god will judge men’s secrets will be an interesting one…won’t it? we can’t know what truly lies within another’s heart. only god can know that. but one day, all will be laid bare. how will you fare on that day?

now, i’m not wishing to condemn anyone. i know that i’m a sinner, saved by god’s incredible grace and mercy. we all make mistakes. we all have issues. that’s why we so desperately need salvation.

however, god does desire our obedience. 1 samuel 15:22 says, “to obey is better than sacrifice.” god wants for us to take his word literally. the bible is meant to guide us through life, and obedience will keep us safe.

so, don’t just be a hearer…be a doer. a doer with a pure heart (an honest heart, laid bare before god) will have nothing to worry about on the day of secrets.
