using jesus
why do so many people just use jesus? you know what i mean? they only want for him to answer their prayers. they don’t want to change and live like god’s word says is best for us.
today, while reading the bible, i came across a section of scripture which provoked this thought. the section is found in matthew 11:20-24, and in 12:39-42. jesus was condemning those who had witnessed his miracles, but had not repented.
Then, in 12:43-45 he said, “When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”
so, it’s worse for the person who uses jesus to get what they need. they will, in the end, be in a far worse position than they were.
so, i want to encourage you to pray and ask god to do great things in your life, but also check your heart. make sure your first priority is a pure heart before god. don’t just use jesus as your personal santa claus. he wants to do good things for you! don’t allow the enemy to take what he does for you and turn it into a worse situation.
when your prayers are answered, glorify god!
