End-of-the-Year Last Hoorah
This week is the last of the school year for our 6-year-old son, Jake. He graduates from kindergarten on Thursday. He is so excited, too. His teacher has asked him to share his testimony, and he has memorized lots of scripture, and they’re performing a little play. I am the official after-graduation party planner, so I have a kindergarten graduation carnival planned, complete with clowns, a couple of games, and lots of take-home prizes. I am a total over-achiever, especially where my kids are concerned. I just got the lecture from my husband about how much I’m allowed to spend (which, by the way, I totally need or I will get out of control).
Our older son, Al, also has a birthday this time of year, taking place right after school gets out. So, we are planning his mad science birthday party. So, as you can tell, I’m totally into party planning for the next couple of weeks. I’ve already ordered beakers to use as cups, and scheduled a guest mad scientist to perform some experiments for the kids. I haven’t decided if I’m going to order a cake (Al doesn’t like cake) or maybe have a create-your-own-monster-icecream-sundae bar. Can you float dry ice in the punch, or will that poison the children? I need to find out.
So, when summer finally gets here, I’ll be ready for some down time.
