Judgemental
The most frustrating, difficult, just plain hurtful experiences I’ve had as a Christian are when I’m judged harshly by other Christians. It hurts so bad! If people only cared enough to understand someone’s heart before they judge. I’m so glad God promises He doesn’t look at outward appearances…He looks at the heart (1 Sam 16:7 ). As Christians, God hasn’t called us to judge each other!!! He’s called us to unity. Before Jesus was arrested and crucified He prayed for Christians to be unified (John 17:20-23) to reach the world with the gospel. Unity is God’s desire for us. Unity is the example He’s set for us…God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit live in complete unity and harmony as one.
So, here’s my advice for you: when you’re judged harshly, don’t sweat it. Be sure to pray about it and make sure your heart is pure before God. Don’t let others make you feel guilty for being who God’s created you to be. Some are called to be different…to not fit in with the religious status quo. If that’s you, be ready for unjust judgement. As long as you’re seeking holiness and submitted to authority…don’t sweat it.
More advice: make a commitment to yourself and God that you won’t be quick to harsh judgement. Remember, you reap what you sow! Sometimes, jealousy is a motive for harsh judgement; sometimes, we just don’t understand the other person so we decide not to like them. Please, don’t fall into this prideful trap. A judgemental person is full of pride…which is the original sin (Satan fell from heaven because of pride). BE A LOVER NOT A HATER!
Unity…I love ya’ll…we need to love each other more and overlook each other’s faults. Not sin…we should love each other enough to say something when we see a brother or sister intentionally sin. But, not say something to someone else but directly to that person alone. It’s not our job to point out each other’s faults to everyone else. I think there are some people in the church who actually feel this is their calling.
Don’t be my judge…be my brother or sister. Let’s love each other’s uniqueness. Together, we make up the body of Christ. Together, it’s God’s will for us to reach this world. We need each other. God’s will for us is unity.
I’m making a new commitment to unity…to seek it with great determination and diligence. Join me!
